Our publishing date is Thursday! 3. Spirit Week, Day 2 - Monday is Twin Day. Talk to a classmate or a teacher and come in as twins or triplets or any multiple. Remember to wear your swimsuit under your costume so you are ready for our class picnic. 4. Graduation Rehearsal, Day 2 - BE ON TIME FOR SCHOOL!!!, meet in the auditorium at 8:20am 5. Class Party- $5 for PIZZA - Wear your swimsuit under your twin day costume. Wear strapped sandals (no flipflops) or sneakers. We can bring Bring a water gun, water bottle or plastic bucket. ABT Dance & Stop Motion Animation Celebration- Wednesday morning. Invite your family! ABT dancers will perform for the 5th grade and their families. We also will watch all the Stop Motion Animation. Be ready for book club meeting Wednesday, during Morning Quiet Work. 2. Math - Work for 20 minutes. Complete the two story problems for homework on the worksheet. Try out using the pattern we noticed in class. PATTERN: When you multiply fractions, it is the same thing as dividing by the reciprocal or the unit value of the 2nd fraction (denominator) Ex: ¼ x ¼ = ¼ ÷ 4 = 1/16

3/1/19 1. Parent Teacher Conferences - Be sure to have your family sign-up for a conference time on Thursday, March 14. We sent an email home with a link to the sign up google doc. Some families are receiving a note home instead that they should fill out with 3 time slots that work for them. We will then get back to you with which one works. 2. Yearbook - Read the yearbook handout - The committee needs you to upload/share photos from this school year and photos from your baby, toddler and/or pre-K years. The stadium is divided into 250 different seating sections. How many seats are in each section? Writing - Finish publishing your piece. Adding any final touches. If you cannot print at home, email us and we will print it for you. If you are done writing, read through your piece. Use the questions below to share your opinion with the class. Make sure to explain your ideas using evidence from the movie and other parts of your life. If you do not have access to our class website, write your response in your social studies notebook. Learn from past freedom fighters: How have others taken a stand against injustice? How did they organize to create successful actions? What lessons did they learn, by persisting through their mistakes and opposing powers? What are effective steps toward progress?

Reading Response- Respond to the question below in your RN. Your response should be at least half a page. When John Lewis lead marchers over the bridge in Selma, Alabama, he knew he might get arrested and violence could happen. Do you think this was a courageous or irresponsible act? Why? 2. Math - Work for 20 minutes. Complete the multiplication sprint. Time yourself for 3 minutes for side A and take a few minutes to check your work and look at the patterns. 4. Soup Kitchen & Women’s Shelter donations-We have decided to give supplies to CHiPS, a local soup kitchen and shelter for women. In light of the upcoming holiday, we would like to give back to our local community and reflect on our gratitude for what we have in our lives. Next Tuesday, November 20th, a week from today, we will deliver supplies to CHiPS and study first hand how the organization aids neighbors in need. Encourage your family to add these items to their shopping list this week. Writing - Write for 20 minutes. You could continue beginning try-its or writing your I Want to Be poem. Also try out writing a new ending or styles of writing you noticed in the mentor texts.

Writing - Free Write! - Start something new or continue something in your writing journal for 20 minutes.
Math - Pick a number from 1-9. Find that section in the back of your math journal and work on finding as many expressions for the number as you can. Challenge yourself to use X, ➗, ( ), fractions, or decimals. Play with the numbers. Have fun.
Family- Share the Class Dojo information with your family. Mr. O (music teacher) will be using it as a way to communicate with your families.

What supplies do you need when you read? In your reading notebook, write at least ½ a page to answer the question “What is your reading space like?”

Social Studies - Bring in a stuffed animal for our Morning Meeting on Thursday.
Writing - Fill out an application for a class job. You may apply for one or two jobs but do a separate application for each.

Reading/Writing - Read the “Self-Portraits/Pablo Picasso” packet to prepare you for creating your own self portrait. Read it with an adult if you need help. Think about the 3 questions at the end. Look online to find a piece of artwork by Pablo Picasso that you like. Print it out at home or email it to Ms. Catherine and Ms. Laura so we can print it out in class tomorrow.
Math - Look at your math problems from today. In your notebook, answer these questions: What did I struggle with today? What would I like to work on?
